Because You Deserve Your Best Self
Most poker players think they’re better than average. The math very clearly says otherwise.
I learned that the hard way. After winning small home games and even a few local tournaments, I sat down at more serious tables and realized how outclassed I was. My bankroll told the same story. When I finally tracked my results properly, I could see that I was more EV-negative than I wanted to admit.
At first, I brushed it off. Poker was just a hobby, not a source of income. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that I could do better. This also came at a time when I felt lost and honestly a little depressed. I needed something to focus on that might me a sense of direction. Poker became that outlet. (To be clear, I’m NOT saying poker is a cure for depression. If anything, it can cause more of it, but for me it became a challenge I could grow from.)
That is when I found something important. Despite what people say on Reddit or Twitter, poker is still very much beatable. The gap is not between the pros and the amateurs. The real difference is between the people who take some amount of time to study and the people who go from one game to the next without ever learning from their mistakes.
But I also discovered another problem. Most poker content is either confusing, exhausting, or simply boring. That is why I started Verifam, the first edutainment poker website. I wanted a space where players can learn in a way that is clear and fun. Poker should be about strategy and self-improvement, but it should also be about stories, jokes, and community. Yes, you can have your cake and eat it too.
Pssst…If you want to get better without feeling overwhelmed, sign up for the Verifam newsletter. Every month you’ll get strategies, stories, and access to tools that will help you improve your game.
Our Mission Is You
Verifam is about poker edutainment, that means education + entertainment.
Education, because poker is a mental sport. The players who improve their decision-making, patience, and analytical skills are the ones who consistently win.
Entertainment, because poker is also about fun. Like the thrill of a bluff or banter in a home game. All of our content, whether it’s memes, posts, and videos are meant to recreate that.
I’ve won my share of chips at the table, but honestly? My favourite poker memories are still the ones around a kitchen table with friends. That balance between study and fun using poker edutainment is what Verifam is all about.
Where We’re Headed
Poker isn’t what it was in the early 2000s. Back then, the boom made everyone believe they could be the next Moneymaker. That era created the most diverse cast of players the game has ever seen. Think about Phil Ivey’s cold precision and now imagine Phil Hellmuth’s legendary meltdowns.
Today, the landscape looks different. Solvers, charts, and endless study have raised the bar. The modern poker player fits a very different image.
And if you’re a beginner walking into this world? You’re a fish swimming straight into a shark tank. A lamb to the slaughter.
That reality makes a lot of players give up before they even start. It feels like no matter how hard you try, these solver-trained players will always have an edge and trying to learn the skills they use means getting a master’s degree.
But here’s the truth: it doesn’t have to be that way. The lambs can fight back.
My goal with Verifam is to guide players with poker edutainment to avoid the rookie (and not-so-rookie) mistakes and still enjoy the ride.
We will be reviewing all kinds of poker material, including specific hand reviews, book summaries, and my thoughts on different poker courses, so you can make smarter decisions both on and off the felt.
